India's daily COVID-19 new cases drop to 23,529

The country’s COVID-19 confirmed caseload reached 3,37,39,980, while the death toll mounted to 4,48,062 with 311 new fatalities reported from across the country.

India on Thursday reported 23,529 new positive cases in the last 24 hours that pushed its active caseload to 2,77,020, lowest in 195 days. The active cases account for less than one per cent of total cases, currently at 0.82 per cent; lowest since March 2020, according to the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry.

Maharashtra today has 65,47,793 total COVID-19 confirmed cases, still highest in the country among all states and Union territories, followed by Kerala with 46,64,944 confirmed cases and Karnataka with 29,75,067 cases as of Thursday.

The country also reported 28,718 new recoveries and the recovery rate currently is 97.85 per cent; highest since March 2020. The cumulative recoveries reached 3,30,14,898.

The current weekly positivity rate remained less than three per cent for last 97 days, at 1.74 per cent. The daily positivity rate also stood below three per cent for last 31 days at 1.56 per cent.

Meanwhile, 56,89,56,439 total tests have been conducted and 88,34,70,578 vaccine doses have been administered across the country so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.
