India's daily COVID-19 death tally jumps to 149

Following a continuous downward trend, India’s COVID-19 active caseload further declined to 29,181 on Friday, constituting 0.07 per cent of the country's total positive cases

India continued to witness declining trend in daily COVID-19 cases with the report of 2,528 new cases, but the daily death count jumped to 149 on Friday from that Thursday's 60, according to the latest update by the Union Health Ministry.

Following a continuous downward trend, India’s COVID-19 active caseload further declined to 29,181 on Fridayconstituting 0.07 per cent of the country's total positive cases.

The country's confirmed caseload reached  4,30,04,005, while the cumulative death toll climbed to 5,16,281 and total recoveries touched 4,24,58,543 with 3,997  more recoveries as of Friday. Consequently, India’s recovery rate stood at 98.73 per cent.

Meanwhile, a total of 6,33,867 COVID-19 tests have been conducted. India has so far conducted over 78.18 Cr (78,18,58,171) cumulative tests.

There has been a sustained fall in the weekly and daily Positivity Rates too. Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 0.40% and the Daily Positivity rate isalso reported to be 0.40%.

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 180.97Cr (1,80,97,94,588) as per provisional reports till 7 am on Friday. The COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 9 lakh (9,04,700) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
