India's daily COVID-19 caseload climbs to 20,139

The total number of COVID-19 active cases in the country currently is 1,36,076, which accounted for 0.31 per cent of the total caseload.

As COVID-19 surges back, India today has 4,36,89,989 COVID-19 confirmed cases as 20,139 total new positive cases were reported from across the country as per the latest update by the Union Health Ministry on Thursday.

The country’s COVID-19 death toll rose to 5,25,557 as the illness claimed 38 more lives as of Thursday, while 4,30,28,356 total people have recovered since the onset of the pandemic in India.

Consequently, the total number of COVID-19 active cases in the country currently is 1,36,076, which accounted for 0.31 per cent of the total caseload.

West Bengal continued to have the highest number of COVID-19 active cases at 27,496, followed by Kerala and Tamil Nadu with 26,451 and 18,282 active cases respectively as of Thursday.

In Northeast, with 2,584 active cases, Assam has the highest COVID-19 active caseload, followed by Mizoram and Tripura with 964 and 584 active cases respectively.

So far, 86,81,64,348 total samples have been tested for Coronavirus across the country, while the total number of COVID vaccines doses administered nationwide has reached 1,99,27,27,559 as of Wednesday.
