India's COVID-19 total caseload crosses 80 lakh mark

A total of 49,881 new cases were detected as per the latest report on Thursday morning.

With 49,881 new cases detected in the past 24 hours countrywide, COVID-19 confirmed tally in India crossed 80 lakh mark on Thursday.

The total number of Coronavirus cases in the country has surged to 80,40,203. The cumulative number of active cases is 6,03,687.

India’s COVID-19 death rate shot up for the second day as the disease claimed 517 more lives in the last 24 hours. The cumulative number of death due to this infectious disease in India is 1,20,527.

Meanwhile, the recovery rate moved up to 90.99 per cent as 56,480 persons were discharged on Wednesday and the total number of recovered persons is 73,15,989.

On Wednesday, 10,75,760 samples were tested and 10,65,63,440 total samples have been tested so far.

Mizoram has reported the first death due to the disease. It has 2,656 total COVID-19 cases with 49 new COVID-19 positive cases, 417 active cases, 2,238 recovered cases of which five were discharged in the past 24 hours.

Lakshadweep still remains untouched by the pandemic while Maharashtra is the worst-hit state in the country.
