India's Covid-19 tally nears 64 lakh-mark; 81,484 new cases reported

A total of 1,095 deaths were reported across the country in a span of a day, pushing the total toll to 99,773, the Health Ministry said.

India's Covid-19 tally neared the 64 lakh-mark with an addition of 81,484 infections being reported in a span of 24 hours, as per the latest updates released by Union Health Ministry.

According to the Health Ministry, the total number of coronavirus cases in India is 63,94,068, including 9,42,217 active cases and  5,352,078  recovered cases. 

A total of 1,095 deaths were reported across the country in a span of a day, pushing the total toll to 99,773, the Health Ministry said.

Meanwhile, the national recovery rate has improved and now stands at 83.70 percent. 77 per cent of total recovered cases are recorded from 10 states/UTs, it said.

Maharashtra with 11,04,426 recovered cases, Andhra Pradesh with 6,36,508 and Tamil Nadu with 5,47,335 recovered cases  have contributed to most Covid-19 recoveries in the country, as per the latest data released by the ministry.

India continues to be the second most affected country in the world after the United States which has 7,494,671 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 212,660 deaths, 2,545,390 active cases and 4,736,621 recovered cases.
