India's COVID-19 tally crosses 91 lakh mark, 44,059 new cases in 24 hours

The death toll in the country, according to the Health Ministry's latest updates, also mounted to 1,33,738 as 511 more fatalities were reported in a span of 24 hours.

India's COVID-19 tally on Monday reached 91,39,865 after 44,059 fresh cases were reported in a day, the Union Health Ministry said.

The death toll in the country, according to the ministry's latest updates, also mounted to 1,33,738 as 511 more fatalities were reported in a span of 24 hours.  

A total of 85,62,640 patients have recuperated from COVID-19 so far. Of these, 41,024 patients recovered in a day.  The national recovery rate continues to rise and now stands at 93.69. India has 4,43,486 active cases as of date, the Health Ministry stated.

Maharashtra with 1,780,208 confirmed COVID-19 cases is the worst coronavirus affected state in the country, followed by Karnataka with 8,73,046, Andhra Pradesh with 8,62,013, Tamil Nadu with 7,69,995 and Kerala 5,62,695.

Delhi recorded 6,746 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, pushing the total tally in the national capital to 5,29,863 while 121 more fatalities pushed the death toll to 8,391, the Health Ministry stated.

So far a total of 13,25,82,730 samples have been tested for COVID-19 across the country. Of these,  8,49,596 samples were tested on Sunday.
