India's COVID-19 tally crosses 49 lakh mark

The total positive caseload rose to 4,930,236, including 3,859,399 covered patients and 9,90,061 active cases on Tuesday.

India’s Covid-19 confirmed tally crossed 49 lakh on Tuesday with the single-day spike of 80,776 new positive cases in the last 24 hours, according to the Health and Family Welfare Ministry data.

The total positive caseload rose to 4,930,236, including 3,859,399 covered patients and 9,90,061 active cases on Tuesday, the data stated.

Till date, 80,776 have succumbed to the disease with an addition of 1,054 deaths reported in a single day. The fatality rate has shown a dip and now records at 1.64 per cent.

The country's recovery rate now stands at 78.28 per cent. India's recovery rate has been the highest in the world, data from US based John Hopkins University stated.

so far, Maharashtra followed by Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh are the states which have reported the highest number of coronavirus cases in India.

India has tested nearly 6 crore samples for COVID-19 as of September 14.
