India's COVID-19 death toll rises to 5,22,006 with 40 more fatalities
India recorded as many as 2,067 new COVID-19 positive cases on Wednseday.

India on Wednesday recorded as many as 40 COVID-19 related deaths, pushing the death toll to 5,22,006 while 2,067 new COVID-19 positive cases pushed the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 4,30,47,594, official sources said.
As per the latest data by the Union Health Ministry, India's active COVID-19 active caseload stood at 12,340 as of Wednesday.
The country also recorded 1,547 new recoveries in a span of 24 hours. The cumulative tally of recovered patients is 4,25,13,248 and the recovery rate is 98.76 per cent, according to the Union Health Ministry.
India has so far conducted a total of 83,29,27,938 COVID-19 tests, while the COVID-19 vaccination coverage has reached 1,86,90,56,607, the ministry added.
