India's COVID-19 death toll climbs to 5,25,139

A cumulative number of 4,28,36,906 COVID-19 patients have recovered so far, according to the latest update by the Union Health Ministry.

India’s COVID-19 confirmed caseload reached 4,34,69,234 with the report of 17,070 new cases as of Friday, while 23 more total fatalities pushed the death toll to 5,25,139. As many as 4,28,36,906 COVID-19 patients have recovered so far, according to the latest update by the Union Health Ministry.

Following it, the country’s Active Caseload currently stands at 1,07,189. The active cases now constitute 0.25 per cent of the country's total positive cases. The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stood at 3.59 per cent and the daily positivity rate was reported to be 3.40 per cent.

Kerala and Maharashtra reported the highest COVID-19 active caseload as of Friday with 29,504 and 24,940 cases respectively, as per the latest update.

In Northeast India, Assam has 395 COVID-19 active cases, the highest, while Mizoram has 300, Meghalaya 79, Sikkim 29, Manipur 20, Tripura 10, Arunachal Pradesh seven and Nagaland two.

Meanwhile, as many as 5,02,150 COVID-19 more tests pushed the total test conducted so far to 86,28,77,639. India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 197.74 Cr (1,97,74,71,041) as per provisional reports till 7 am Friday. This has been achieved through 2,57,61,312 sessions, the ministry stated.

COVID-19 vaccination drive for the age group 12-14 years, which was started on March 16, 2022, has covered more than 3.67 Cr (3,67,58,383) adolescents with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. And, the COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years, which was started on April 10, 2022, has covered 4,60,82,256 beneficiaries.
