India's COVID-19 death count jumps to 127 despite downtrend in positive cases

India on Sunday reported a singel-day spike of 1,761 COVID-19 positive cases, 127 deaths and 3,196 recoveries, pushing the country's COVID-19 confirmed tally to 4,30,07,841 and death toll to 5,16,479, according to official updates.

According to the Union Health Ministry, following a continuous downward trend, India’s COVID-19 active caseload has declined to 26,240 on Sunday, constituting 0.06 per cent of the country's total positive cases.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stood at 98.74 per cent. A total of 3,196 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,24,65,122, the ministry stated.

With a total of 4,31,973 COVID-19 tests being conducted, India has so far conducted over 78.26 Cr (78,26,60,658) cumulative tests. Weekly Positivity Rate in the country stood at 0.41 per cent and the daily positivity rate was reported to be 0.41 per cent.

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has reached 1,81,21,11,675 as per provisional reports till 7 am on Sunday. This has been achieved through 2,13,75,059 sessions. So far, 17,36,464 adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine for children in the 12-14 years age group.
