India's COVID-19 active caseload falls below 1% of total cases

India's active caseload stood at 3,22,327, while the death toll mounted to 4,35,758, as per the latest update by the Union Health Ministry.

India on Wednesday reported 37,593 new COVID-19 positive cases that pushed the country’s active caseload to 3,22,327, according to the latest update by the Union Health Ministry. The total COVID-19 active cases account for less than one per cent of total cases, currently at 0.99 per cent.

As the number of daily new positive cases declined since March 2020, the recovery rate moved to 97.67 per cent. A total of 34,169 new recoveries were reported in a span of 24 hours latest. The total recoveries reached 3,17,54,281.

As the COVID-19 pandemic second wave waned, the weekly positivity rate remained less than three percent at 1.92 per cent for last 61 days, while the daily positivity rate stood at 2.10 per cent, less than three per cent for the last 30 days

Meanwhile, a total of 51,11,84,547 tests have been conducted across the country so far. Of the total tests, the total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases across the country is 3,25,12,366, while the death toll mounted to 4,35,758 as 648 more patients succumbed to the disease, according to the ministry.

A total of 59,55,04,593 vaccine doses have been administered across the country so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.

While Maharashtra remained the state with the highest number of COVID-19 confirmed cases and death toll in India, Kerala’s total active cases of 1,59,870 remained the highest among all states and Union territories in the country so far.
