India's COVID-19 active caseload climbs to 1,39,073

India’s Cumulative COVID-19 vaccination coverage exceeds 199.47 crore as of Friday. However, the number of new positive cases continued to rise.

India’s COVID-19 active caseload currently stands at 1,39,073 with 20,038 new cases reported in the last 24 hours. Active cases now constitute 0.32 per cent of the country's total positive cases, as per the latest official update.

The country's COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 199.47 Cr (1,99,47,34,994) as per provisional reports till 7 am on Friday. This has been achieved through 2,62,39,248 sessions, according to the Union Health Ministry.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.48 per cent, as 16,994 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now 4,30,45,350.

The last 24 hours saw a total of 4,50,820 COVID-19 tests being conducted. India has so far conducted over 86.86 Cr (86,86,15,168) cumulative tests, it stated.

The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 4.30% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 4.44 per cent.

The COVID-19 vaccination drive for the age group 12-14 years, which started on March 16, 2022, has so far covered 3,78,17,085 adolescents with the first dose of the vaccine.

The COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years was started on April 10, 2022. Following it, 5,26,81,422 total precaution doses have been administered so far, the ministry stated.

In the effort to boost the administration of Covid vaccine for the age group 18 years and above, the vaccine has been made free of cost for the age agroup for 75 days starting July 15, as a part of the celebration of 75 years of India's Independence.
