Indian reports 20,044 new COVID-19 cases

India's COVID-19 active caseload rose to 1,40,760 as of Saturday, with the report of 20,044 new COVID-19 cases across the country. The active cases accounts for 0.32 per cent of the total confirmed cases, official sources said.

As per the provisional report till 7 am Saturday of the Union Health Ministry, 199.71 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive. So far, more than 3.79 Cr (3,79,06,419) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, it stated.

Consequently, the recovery rate currently stands at 98.48 per cent. As many as 18,301 recoveries were reported in the last 24 hours. The total recoveries reached 4,30,63,651.

The daily positivity rate stood at 4.80 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate stood at 4.40 per cent.

So far, 86.90 crore total tests have been conducted; as 4,17,895 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Manipur continued to witness an uptrend in the daily COVID-19 cases. On Friday, the state recorded a total of 89 new COVID-19 cases and zero death cases, pushing the state's total positive cases to 1,37,779 and confining the death toll at 2,120. The day's positivity rate is 14.8 per cent, as per the latest update by the state Health Services.

Of the 89 new positive cases, 39 cases were from Imphal West, 28 from Imphal East, seven from Kakching, five from Thoubal, two each from Jiribam and Ukhrul and one each from Bishnupur, Chandel, Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, Senapati and Tengnoupal.

According to the latest update by the state health department, a total of 601 COVID-19 tests were conducted in Manipur on Friday. Manipur has so far conducted 16,19,063 COVID-19 tests.

The state also recorded 24 new COVID-19 recoveries increasing the number of recovered cases to 1,35,274 and the recovery rate is 98.18 per cent. Manipur now has 385 COVID-19 active cases, according to a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 29,96,068 (first dose: 16,01,439 second dose: 12,70,179,765 and precautionary dose: 1,24,450).
