India reports 8,503 more new COVID-19 cases

India's total COVID-19 confirmed caseload reached 3,46,74,744 on Friday.

India on Friday reported 8,503 new COVID-19 cases. It pushed the country’s total COVID-19 confirmed caseload to 3,46,74,744, according to latest update by the Union Health Ministry.

Maharashtra’s Covid-19 caseload reached 66,41,677 and 1,41,211 death toll, highest in India, followed by Kerala with 51,83,061 positive cases and Karnataka with 29,99,471 positive cases. Kerala has the second highest death toll of 42,239.

The country's COVID-19 death toll reached 4,74,735, with the report of 624 more deaths, while 7,678 more recoveries pushed total recoveries to 3,41,05,066. Consequrntly the recovery rate currently is 98.36 per cent, highest since March 2020.

The total active caseload stood at 94,943. The active cases account for less than one per cent of total cases, currently at 0.27 per cent; lowest since March 2020.

The daily positivity rate (0.66%) remained less than two per cent for last 67 days, while the weekly positivity rate (0.72%) remained less than one per cent for last 26 days.

Meanwhile, 65.32 crore total tests have been conducted so far and 131.18 cr vaccine doses have been administered so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.
