India reports 7,591 more COVID-19 positive cases, 45 deaths

India’s cumulative COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 211.91 crore as of Monday.

India on Monday reported 7,591 new COVID-19 positive cases and 45 deaths in a span of 24 hours. With it, the country's confirmed caseload rose to 4,44,15,723, including 4,38,02,993 total recoveries, 5,27,799 total deaths and 84,931 active cases.

According to the latest update by the Union Health Ministry, active cases in the country constituted 0.19 per cent of the country's total positive casesIndia’s recovery rate stood at 98.62 per cent, as 9,206 more patients have recovered in the last 24 hours.

Most of the states reported drop in active cases, with zero or lesser number of new positive cases being recorded. Maharashtra and Kerala and Karnataka reported 1,639, 1,123 and 929 new positive cases respectively. However, these three states also saw a drop in active caseload as of Monday. 

With a total of 1,65,751 COVID-19 tests being conducted in the last 24 hours, India has so far conducted 88,52,08,552 cumulative tests. Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 2.69% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 4.58%.

Meanwhile, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has reached 2,11,91,05,738 as per provisional reports till 7 am Monday. Over 4.02 crore first dose of vaccines have been administered to children in the age group 12-14 years till date.
