India COVID-19 tally has reached 78,14,682 with new 53,370 positive cases, the Union Health Ministry said on Saturday.
The country also witnessed 650 deaths on Friday bringing the death toll to 1,17,956, while 67,549 more persons were discharged. The cumulative number of recovered persons are 70,16,046 and 6,80,680 cases are still active based on reports given on Friday.
The number of samples tested on Friday is 12,69,479 and the total number of samples tested so far is 10,13,82,564. As many as 15,24,266 passengers have been screened at Airport, according to an official report.
Meanwhile, Indian multinational pharmaceutical company Dr. Reddy's Laboratories gets DCGI approval to test Russia's Sputnik vaccine. According to reports, the lab aims to test the vaccine on 100 participants before it proceeds for a bigger trial.
