India logs 6,317 new COVID-19 positive cases

As many as 66.74 crore total tests have been conducted so far across the country and 138.96 crore vaccine doses have been administered under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.

India on Wednesday reported 6,317 new COVID-19 positive cases, taking the cumulative number of confirmed caseload to 3,47,58,481, according to the latest update by the Union Health Ministry.

As many as 66.74 crore total tests have been conducted so far across the country and 138.96 crore vaccine doses have been administered under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.

India's Active caseload currently stands at 78,190; lowest in 575 days. Active cases account for less than 1% of total cases, currently at 0.22%; Lowest since March 2020.

The country also reported 318 more deaths, taking the death toll to 4,78,325 as of Wednesday.

The Recovery Rate currently is 98.40 per cent; highest since March 2020, as 6,906 more people recovered in the last 24 hours. With it, the total number of recoveries increased to 3,42,01,966.

Consequently, while the daily positivity rate (0.51%) remained less than 2% for the last 79 days, the weekly positivity Rate (0.58%) stood below 1% for the last 38 days.
