India logs 6,298 new COVID-19 cases; active caseload rises to 46,748

As many as 89,09,47,646 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in India, including 3,33,964 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, as per the Health Ministry.

India's COVID-19 tally on Friday climbed to 4,45,22,777 with the addition of 6,298 new cases while the death toll surged to 5,28,273 with 23 more deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the latest update by the Union Health Ministry.

On Thursday, India recorded 6,422 new COVID-19 cases and 34 deaths and the active caseload was 46,389. The active caseload surged to 46,748 on Friday, constituting 0.1 per cent of the country's total positive cases.

India also recorded 5,916 new COVID-19 recoveries in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 4,39,47,756 and the recovery rate is 98.71 per cent, as on Friday..

While the weekly positivity rate in the country was recorded at 1.70 per cent, the daily positivity rate was reported to be 1.89 per cent, the ministry added.

Meanwhile, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has reached 2,16,17,78,020, including 19,14,25,913 precaution doses.
