India logs 2,483 new COVID-19 cases, 1,399 deaths

India’s COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 98.75 per cent.

India on Tuesday recorded 2,483 new COVID-19 cases, pushing the country's tally to 4,30,62,569. The number of COVID-19 active cases dropped to 15,636, from Monday's 16,522, according to the Union Health Ministry data.

As many as 1,399 COVID-19 deaths were also recorded on Tuesday, of which 1,347 deaths were from Assam while 47 were from Kerala, four from Punjab and one from Delhi. However, the deaths reported in Assam and Kerala are based on reconciled figures and no COVID-19 death was reported in Assam in the last 24 hours, the Health Ministry said.

India's COVID-19 death toll has reached 5,23,622 on Tuesday.

The country also recorded 1,970 new recoveries in 24 hours, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 25,23,311. India’s recovery rate stands at 98.75 per cent.

India has so far conducted 83,54,69,014 cumulative COVID-19 tests while the country's COVID-19 vaccination coverage has reached 1,87,95,76,423 as per provisional reports till 7 am Tuesday.
