India logs 1,086 new COVID-19 cases, 71 deaths

India’s active COVID-19 caseload dropped to 11,871 on Wednesday.

India on Wednesday reported 1,086 new COVID-19 cases and 71 deaths, taking the country's tally to 4,30,30,925 and death toll to 5,21,487. According to the Union Health Ministry, India’s active COVID-19 caseload dropped to 11,871, constituting 0.03 per cent of the country's total positive cases.

A total of 1,198 COVID-19 patients recovered from the infection in a span of 24 hours. WIth these new recoveries, the cumulative tally of recovered patients  is 4,24,97,567. The recovery rate stands at 98.76 per cent as of Wednesday.

Meanwhile, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 185.04 crore (1,85,04,11,569) as per provisional reports till 7 am Wednesday. As many as 1,98,31,257 adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, the Ministry stated.
