India continues to witness drop in single day COVID-19 cases

India has been witnessing a steady decline in daily covid-19 positive cases for the past few days, On Saturday, the tally dropped to 5554 and the active caseload was recorded at 48,850 and 0.11 per cent.

According to the Union Health Ministry updated data, the country's confirmed caseload reached 4,44,87,703 and its death toll increased to 5,28,139 with 16 more patients succumbing to the disease.

The country has also conducted 88.90 crore total tests so far, with 3,76,855 tests conducted in the last 24 hours. 

The nationwide vaccination coverage reached 2,14,77,55,021 total doses (94.48 cr Second Dose and 17.92 cr Precaution Dose), as 21,63,811 doses were administered in the last 24 hours, as per provisional reports till 7 am Saturday.

Over 4.06 crore first dose vaccines have been administered for children in age group 12-14 years as of Saturday. The COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years reached 17,92,47,681.

Consequently, the daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.47 per cent and weekly positivity rate at 1.80 per cent

The recovery rate was recorded at 98.7 per cent as 6,322 total recoveries were witnessed in the last 24 hours, pushing the total nu,ber of recoveries to 4,39,13,294.
