Imphal West: Sagolband Heinoupok Leikai declared containment zone after 80 people tested COVID-19 positive

The district administration has sealed a large geographical area of the Heinoupok Leikai and issued containment measures to prevent the spread of the disease in the area on Tuesday.

After eighty COVID-19 positive cases were reported from Sagolband Heinoupok Leikai in Imphal West in the last one week, the district administration has sealed a large geographical area of the Heinoupok Leikai and issued containment measures to prevent the spread of the disease in the area on Tuesday.

According to an order issued by the district magistrate, Imphal West, the boundaries of the containment zone are Heinoupok Awang Leikai Nujengkhong Culvert in the north, Heinoupok Makha Leikai Monsang Road in the South, Heinoupok Mamang Leka Culvert near Sadokpam Leikai in the east and Heinoupok Maning Leikai Culvert near Langjing Makha Leikai in the west.

The order mentioned that the geographical area lying within a radius of 150 metres beyond the containment zone or area is identified as the buffer zone.

In order to break the chain of transmission of the disease, it has adopted to take up the following measures such as extensive surveillance and contact tracing of the positive cases, reporting clinically suspect cases on COVID-19 on real time basis, clinical management of confirmed cases and sensitisation of the local residents on personal hygiene, physical distancing and other preventive measures, it added.

As a containment measures, the order imposed a ban on entry and exit of population from the containment area, closure of schools, offices, if any and banning public gathering of any type, banning vehicular movement in the area, initiating active surveillance of COVID-19 cases and compulsory use of Aarogya Setu application by all the people residing within the containment area.

Stating that the order was issued in exercise of the powers conferred upon me under Para 12 of ‘The Manipur Epidemic Diseases, COVID-19 Regulations, 2020’ and in pursuance of the advisory of the ministry of Health and Family Welfare, it mentioned that any person, institution or organisation found violating any of the above mentioned measures shall be deemed to have committed an offence punishable under Section 188 of the IPC, 1860.
