In what could be termed a great achievement, doctors in Tamenglong have treated COVID-19 patients successfully and discharged them from COVID-19 care centre on Sunday.
COVID-19 positive care centre at Tamenglong Higher Secondary School has 62 positive patients at present. As positive cases are no longer transported to Imphal, doctors in Tamenglong have started giving treatment and after confirming that their test results of seven people are negative on Saturday, the district task force released them on Sunday.
With the recovery of seven people from Tamenglong, as many as 35 COVID-19 positive cases have recovered from the total of 186 positive cases from the district. The district now has 151 active cases.
Chief medical officer Tamenglong Dr Chambo Gonmei told the Imphal Free Press that though a TrueNat machine has been installed in Tamenglong, there is no electricity since yesterday. Due to power cut and unfavorable weather conditions, testing for COVID-19 has been halted, he added.
Meanwhile, around 73 returnees are arriving in Tamenglong tonight from Bengaluru and will be quarantined at Don Bosco School. All concerned, including parents and relatives are informed to do the needful for their children/wards.
