Despite decline in positive cases, COVID-19 claims one more life in Manipur

A total of 10 new COVID-19 positive cases pushed the state's confirmed tally to 1,36,931, while the death toll climbed to 2,116 with one new fatality.

Manipur on Wednesday recorded 10 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's confirmed tally to 1,36,931, while the death toll mounted to 2,116 with one new fatality. The positivity rate stood at 0.7 per cent, according to the latest update by the state health department.

The single COVID-19 fatality recorded on Wednesday is from Imphal East. The deceased had co-morbidities and was not vaccinated, according to a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room.

As per the release, four new COVID-19 cases were reported from Imphal West, another two cases each from Bishnupur and Ukhrul and one each from Tengnoupal and Thoubal.

The state also recorded 25 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,34,719. The recovery rate is 98.38 per cent. Manipur now has 96 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 252 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and 76 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours, the release stated.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine reached 27,38,026 (first dose: 15,18,966 second dose: 11,57,159 precautionary dose: 61,901) as of Wednesday.

The cumulative number of people who have been vaccinated in the state with the first dose is 61.21 per cent and for the second dose is 49.43 per cent, it mentioned.
