India on Thursday reported a daily spike of 2,539 new COVID-19 positive cases and 60 more Covid-19 deaths, according to official sources.
The new cases pushed the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 4,30,01,477, including 4,24,54,546 total recoveries and death toll of 5,16,132.
The cumulative number of single-day recoveries exceeded the new COVID-19 cases as on Thursday, the country reported 4,491 total recoveries against that of new cases of 2,539. With it, the Recovery Rate currently is 98.73 per cent.
On Thursday, India's COVID-19 active caseload stood at 30,799, which accounted for 0.07 per cent of the total cases countrywide.
Kerala continued to have the highest number of COVID-19 active caseload among all states and Union territories, followed by Maharashtra and Mizoram, with 8,359, 6,079 and 2,488 cases respectively as of Thursday morning.
COVID-19 death toll of 1,43,759 in Maharashtra is the highest among all states and UTs in India, while in Kerala, 67,008 total people succumbed to the disease so far, the second highest in the state. The third highest death toll of 40,026 is reported in Karnataka.
So far, 78.12 crore total tests for COVID-19 have been conducted; 7,17,330 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. Consequently, the daily positivity rate on Thursday is 0.35 per cent and Weekly Positivity Rate is 0.42 per cent.
Meanwhile, 180.80 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive. The vaccination drive for children in the age group of 12-14 years was rolled out across the country on Wednesday, March 16.
