The Manipur health department on Friday successfully completed the dry run of COVID-19 vaccination programme in all districts.
Dr K Rajo, Director Health said that as many as 775 beneficiaries were vaccinated in 31 sites across the state, 25 each in each site. The exercise started from 10 and completed at 12 noon in 14 districts on Friday.
Manipur has altogether 16 districts of which dry run for Thoubal and Imphal West district was held on January 2.
“The dry run for the state has been completed successfully without any problems. We have sent the feedback to the Ministry after a state level review meeting of the entire exercise”, said the Health Director.
Meanwhile, the Dry Run for COVID- 19 vaccination has been conducted at three session sites in Senapati district at District Hospital, Senapati district headquarters; Sub- District Hospital, Mao; and Primary Health Centre, Maram on Friday. At each session sites, the medical officers have tested 25 beneficiaries (Healthcare workers) for the dry run.
The dry run team for today’s COVID- 19 Vaccination consisted of CMO, DIO, DPM, 2 UNDP and five vaccination officers. While setting up the vaccination site, three separate designated rooms or areas consisting of a waiting room, vaccination room and observation room were created.
Thus, in the waiting room, hand washing/ sanitation facilities were provided at the entrance; seating arrangements were also made to ensure social distancing with the length of 6 feet. In the vaccination room, only one beneficiary is allowed to enter the room. Besides, various logistics such as two vaccine carriers, COVID- 19 vaccine vials, AD syringes, Hand sanitizer and masks, Vaccine vials opener, Hub cutter, AEFI/ Anaphylaxis kit, red and yellow bags, blue puncture proof container, bag for municipal waste are made available.
In the observation room, the beneficiaries are made to wait 30 minutes after vaccination. Drinking water and toilet facilities are also provided. All these arrangements are done with the following of SOPs.
During the dry run, the vaccination officer-1stationed at the entry gate identified the beneficiaries based on available lists and messages received by the beneficiary and also asked them to sanitize their hands before entry.
After passing vaccination officer-1, the vaccination officer-2 in the vaccination room cross checked the beneficiary in the Go-WIN application and verified with Aadhaar card or other government photo IDs.
The vaccinator officer ensures the privacy of beneficiaries, and safe injection practices, reports vaccination in co-WIN app, manages wastes as per guidelines and provides key messages to the beneficiaries.
The vaccination officer- 3 who is available at the observation room ensure that the beneficiaries maintain physical distance and they are observed for 30 minutes and inform the vaccinator in case of any beneficiary having adverse events. The vaccination officer-4 ensures that beneficiaries are mobilised to avoid overcrowding at the session site and inform the beneficiaries the day and time of vaccination.
Later, after the dry run for COVID- 19 vaccination, the Medical teams and the District level Task Force on COVID 19 Vaccination held a review meeting at the deputy commissioner’s chamber with the DC as the chairman. In the meeting, the CMO highlighted the achievement made today and further discussed to solve issues that have been faced.
Today’s meeting was attended by the District Level Task Force for COVID- 19 members, medical officers and workers.
