COVID-19 Surge in India: Maharashtra, Kerala, Delhi report highest active caseload

According to the Union Health Ministry, the total COVID-19 confirmed cases in India reached 4,32,96,692, while 15 more fatalities pushed the death toll to 5,24,855 as of Sunday.

India on Sunday reported 12,899 new COVID-19 positive cases, taking the total COVID-19 active caseload to 72,474 as of Sunday, as per the latest official update.

According to the Union Health Ministry, the total COVID-19 confirmed cases in the country reached 4,32,96,692, while 15 more fatalities pushed the death toll to 5,24,855 as of Sunday.

Maharashtra reported highest total COVID-19 active caseload of 22,828 among all states and Union Territories in India, followed by Kerala and Delhi with 21,275 and 5,119 total active cases respectively.

Manipur reported COVID-19 positivity rate of 2.1 per cent with one new COVID-19 case and zero death cases, pushing the state's total positive cases to 1,37,245 and confining the death toll to 2,120 as of Saturday, according to the state official sources. 

The country also reported 8,518 new recoveries that pushed the total number of COVID-19 recoveries to 4,26,99,363.

The recovery rate stood at 98.62 per cent, while the percentage of active cases is 0.17 per cent. The daily positivity rate stood at 2.89 per cent and the weekly positivity rate remained 2.50 percent.

Meanwhile, 85.78 crore total tests have been conducted so far with 4,46,387 more tests conducted in the last 24 hours. And, a total of 196.14 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.
