Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a ‘Customised Crash Course Programme’ for over 1 lakh frontline workers in the country with the objective of enhancing the skills of frontline workers in the battle against COVID-19.
The training programme will enable frontline workers to handle the battle against the COVID-19 Pandemic in a more effective manner, Skill India stated in a release on Saturday
The prime minister stated that it is essential to strengthen the healthcare infrastructure and enhance the skills of frontline workers since the virus can mutate into a different form anytime. He also mentioned that the COVID-19 pandemic has created an unprecedented burden for the existing health care system, Skill India stated.
With the objective of increasing the numbers of Covid warriors in the country, the Ministry of Skill development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) through the Customised Crash Course Programme will be developing a pool of skilled frontline workers.
Under the programme, participants will undergo training for a short period of time after which they will commence on-job-training at primary health care centers, hospitals, diagnostic facilities and sample collection centres.
The first phase of the programme will be conducted in 111 training centres in 26 states of the country, and there will be one lakh professionals who will be providing on-the-job services at health care facilities all over India, Skill India added.
