COVID-19: India logs 16,866 new cases, 41 deaths in 24 hours

A total of  2,39,751 COVID-19 tests were conducted in India in the last 24 hours. India has so far conducted 87,27,59,815 COVID-19 cases.

India on Monday recorded 16,866 new COVID-19 cases and 41 deaths, pushing the country's tally to4,39,05,621 and the death toll to 5,26,074, according to the latest update by the Union Health Ministry.

The 41 COVID-19 fatalities include 13 from Kerala, six each from Maharashtra and West Bengal, four from Punjab, two from Delhi, and one each from Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Assam, Manipur, Nagaland and Tripura.

A total of  2,39,751 COVID-19 tests were conducted in India in the last 24 hours. India has so far conducted 87,27,59,815 COVID-19 cases.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 7.3 per cent and the weekly positivity rate at 4.49 per cent, as per the latest update.

The country also recorded 18,148 new recoveries in the last 24 hours, increasing the total number of recovered cases to 4,32,28,670. India's recovery rate currently stood at 98.46 per cent.

Consequently, India's COVID-19 active caseload stood at 1,50,877 as of Monday.

As many as 2,02,17,66,615 Covid vaccine doses, including 7,30,96,284 precautionary doses, have been administered in India under the COVID-19 vaccination drive, according to the latest update.
