District magistrate Mahesh Chaudhari on Wednesday declared Senapati headquarter, Maram bazar area, Tadubi town area and Mao town area as containment zones in an order which will come into effect from 3:00 pm of May 14 and continue for the next eight days i.e. until 24 hours of May 22 or until further orders whichever is earlier.
The decision to announce containment zones was taken during the district task force meeting on COVID-19 held on Wednesday, chaired by district magistrate, the members of the task force including Police department, Health department, stated an order issued by the office of the district magistrate, Senapati district.
It was observed that as per the findings of the medical department and observing the trend of positive persons being detected, from persons within the market area and other locations of the district even when that person has not travelled out of the district, it has become extremely difficult to do contact tracing of all possible contacts of the COVID-19 positive persons as it includes some of the most crowded areas of the district, the order stated.
However, vehicles carrying essential commodities, oxygen supply related vehicles, LPG and oil tankers, vehicles of essential services like power supply, fire service, water supply, waste and garbage collection, PDS, telecom, electronic and print media, airport duties and vehicles of other government departments will be permitted, it added.
Works of both state and national projects carried out within the district; home delivery of essential commodities (including supplementary nutrition for children, pregnant and lactating mothers, food items, vegetables, groceries, fish feeds/animal feeds and milk products) will be permitted, it mentioned.
Medical Institutions including pharmacies; people going for Vaccination, COVID-19 testing and those of child protection services; healthcare workers and frontline workers from various departments carrying out COVID-19 related duties as assigned will be allowed.
Banking services with limited staff from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM will be permitted while ATM services will also be allowed, it added. Vehicle repairing workshops along the National Highway-2, will also be permitted.
