COVID-19 in Manipur: Positive cases rise to 28,418 with single day spike of 86

The death toll rose to 363 after two persons died on Tuesday.

Manipur's COVID-19 caseload on Tuesday surged to 28,418 as the state recorded a single-day spike of 86 cases and the death rose to 363 after two persons died in a span of a day, the state department said. 

According to a release issued by the COVID-19 common control room, of the the new positive cases, 85 are from the general population while one is a Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel. 

The new positive cases from the general population included 48 from Imphal West, 13 from Tamenglong, five each from Imphal East, Senapati and Bishnupur, three from Kakching, and two each from Thoubal, Noney and Tengnoupal, the release stated.

All are locals without any significant travel history. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.

A 34-year-old male from Imphal East and a 75-year-old female from Imphal West died at JNIMS and RIMS Hospital in Imphal, respectively. The cumulative number of deaths is 363, the state health department said. 

Meanwhile, the cumulative number of recovered cases surged to to 27,613 on Tuesday. With it, the number of active cases is 442 and the recovery rate is 97.16 per cent, it added.

Those who are in contact with a COVID-19 positive person have been advised to isolate themselves immediately, contact the Covid Control room or the district CMO for testing. In case of emergency, one can dial 24x7 Covid Common Control Room Number-1800-345-3818; for home isolation-related cases, one can dial the home isolation helpline numbers- 0385-2414009 (State head quarter) and - 8415944151 (Thoubal), the state health services stated.

One can also avail online teleconsultation by government doctors from home (10 am to 3 pm every day except on Sunday) by downloading eSanjeevaniOPD app at Google Play store or go to the website -  www.esanjeevaniopd.in.

The state health department has also advised the public to dial - 104 Manipur Mental Health Helpline from 9 am to 9 pm, for mental wellbeing.
