COVID-19 death toll rises above 2,100 in Manipur

A total of 25 new COVID-19 cases were reported from Imphal West, another 24 cases from Imphal East, eight from Thoubal, seven from Bishnupur, six from Ukhrul, two from Kangpokpi and one from Chandel.

Manipur on Monday recorded 73 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,36,506 while the death toll mounted to 2,101 with one new fatality, according to the latest update by the state health department. The positivity rate is 4.7 per cent.

The single COVID-19 fatality recorded on Monday is from Imphal East. The deceased had co-morbidities and was not vaccinated, according to a release issued by State COVID-19 Common Control Room.

As per the release, 25 new COVID-19 cases were reported from Imphal West, another 24 cases from Imphal East, eight from Thoubal, seven from Bishnupur, six from Ukhrul, two from Kangpokpi and one from Chandel.

The state also recorded 82 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,33,756. The recovery rate is 97.99 per cent. Manipur now has 649 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 242 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and 86 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine reached 26,69,123 (first dose: 14,99,164 second dose: 11,14,300 precautionary dose: 55,659). 

The cumulative number of people who have been vaccinated in the state with the first dose is 60.65 per cent and for the second dose is 47.60 per cent, it mentioned.
