COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh is spreading fast. The tally of confirmed cases in the state has risen to 5545 on Thursday as 147 more people tested positive, according to the state health department.
"Seven ITBP personnel, six Assam Rifles jawans and four Army men are among the new patients," State Surveillance Officer, Dr L Jampa, said, adding that they have been shifted to COVID-19 care centres.
However, till date, while nine have died of the disease, 3,906 COVID-19 patients have recovered. The recovery rate is 70.44 per cent. With it, the state now has 1,630 active COVID-19 cases. The highest caseload is reported from the capital region, including Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas, with a total of 329 positive tally.
The first COVID-19 case was registered in the state on April 2, 2020 and the first fatality owing to the disease was reported on July 4.
Meanwhile, India’s COVID-19 tally has reached 44,70,166, while the death toll has climbed to 75,119 till date, according to the Union Health Ministry data.
