COVID-19 claims two more lives in Manipur, death toll surges to 1,992

Manipur on Tuesday recorded 14 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,25,549 while the death toll remained at 1,992 with two more fatalities, according to the latest update by the state health department. The positivity rate is 0.9 per cent.

The two COVID-19 fatalities recorded on Tuesday are from Imphal East and Kakching. Both the deceased had co-morbidities and one was fully vaccinated, according to a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room.

As per the release, Imphal West continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with seven cases. Four cases were reported from Imphal East and one each from Bishnupur, Noney and Thoubal.

The state also recorded 21 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,23,241. The recovery rate is 98.16 per cent. Manipur now has 316 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 279 D-type oxygen cylinders and 105 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 22,43,014 (first dose: 13,04,316 second dose: 9,38,698). The cumulative number of people who have been vaccinated in the state with the first dose is 66.26 per cent and for the second dose is 47.69 per cent, it mentioned.
