COVID-19 claims two more lives, but single-day positive count drops to 108

Manipur's COVID-19 death toll rose to 2,077, as one each from Imphal West and Thoubal district died of the disease.

Manipur on Friday recieved 1,673 COVID-19 test results. Of it, 108 people tested positive for the infection, taking the total confirmed confirmed cases in the state to 1,35,638, according to the latest update by the state health department.

According to a release from the COVID-19 Common Control Room, the state's COVID-19 death toll rose to 2,077 as the disease claimed two more lives, one from Imphal West and the other from Thoubal district of the state.

Of the new positive cases, one was a personnel of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF),  50 from Imphal West, 18 from Imphal East, one each from Churachandpur and Chandel, seven from Kakching, 10 from Bishnupur, two each from Ukhrul and Tamenglong, nine from Thoubal, five from Senapati and three from Kangpokpi, the release stated.

The number of COVID-19 active cases dropped to 2,345 from Thursday's 2397. The active cases included 103 personnel of the CAPF.

The number of total recoveries reached 1,31,216 with 158 more recoveries recorded in the last 24 hours. Consequently, the recovery rate stood at 96.74 per cent. The recovery rate on Thursday was 96.70 per cent.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine reached 26,13,993 (first dose: 14,77,857 | second dose: 10,89,092 | precautionary dose: 47,044). 

The cumulative number of people who have been vaccinated in the state with the first dose is 60.03 per cent and for the second dose is 46.52 per cent, the release added.
