COVID-19 claims three more lives in Manipur, death toll surges to 1,985

Twenty-nine more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Manipur on Monday, taking the state's tally to 1,25,389.

Manipur's COVID-19 death toll mounted to 1,985 with three more fatalities on Monday while 29 people tested positive for COVID-19, taking the state's tally to 1,25,389,  according to the latest update by the state health department. The positivity rate is 2.6 per cent.

Of the three COVID-19 fatalities recorded on Monday, two were from Imphal East and one is from Imphal West. All the deceased had co-morbidities and one was vaccinated with the first dose, according to a release issued by State COVID-19 Common Control Room. 

As per the release, Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 11 and nine cases respectively. Four cases were reported from Bishnupur, three from Senapati and one each from Chandel and Ukhrul.  

The state also recorded 38 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,23,063.

The recovery rate is 98.14 per cent, the release added.

Manipur now has 341 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 530 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and 260 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 21,95,684 (first dose: 12,91,309 second dose: 9,04,375). The cumulative number of people who have been vaccinated in the state with first dose is 65.60 per cent and for second dose is 45.94 per cent, it mentioned.
