COVID-19 claims six more lives in Manipur

A total of 1,21,706 people have been confirmed with COVID-19 and 1,882 have died across Manipur so far.

Manipur's COVID-19 positive caseload reached 1,21,706 and the death toll 1882, as 128 new COVID-19 positive cases and six more fatalities were reported, according to the latest update by the state health department on Friday. The day's positivity rate stood at 5.3 per cent.

The new positive cases included 70 from Imphal West, 20 from Imphal East, four each from Bishnupur and Churachandpur, six from Chandel, three from Jiribam, two each from Kamjong and Kangpokpi, one each from Senapati and Tengnoupal, eight from Thoubal and seven from Ukhrul, a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release stated.

Of the deaths, one was from Imphal East, two from Imphal West, one from Thoubal and two from Ukhrul. Among the six victims, four had comorbidities and none was vaccinated, it stated.

According to the IDSP Status Update on COVID-19 on Friday evening, a total of 13,20,833 people have been tested for COVID-19 till date. As many as 2,418 samples were tested for the infection on Friday. 

A total of 191 persons were discharged on Friday, pushing the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,18,141. The recovery rate is 97.07 per cent while the number of COVID-19 active cases is 1,683 as of Friday, as per the release,

Meanwhile, a total of 986 D-type oxygen cylinders and 196 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of the state in the last 24 hours.

The release further stated that the cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the state reached 17,53,794 (First dose: 12,29,462 and second dose 5,24,332).

According to the release, there are 429 vacant general beds and 118 ICU/HDU beds of COVID-19 in seven hospitals of Manipur.

In CMC, Koirengei (Contact No. 9612636004/9612905628) there are 26 vacant general beds and eight ICU/HDU beds; in Iboyaima Hospital, Singjamei (Contact No.7005436870/ 9612022125) there are 25 vacant general beds and five ICU/HDU beds; in Jivan Hospital, Kakching (Contact No. 9366034272/ 7085348366) there are 20 vacant general beds and five ICU/HDU beds; in Shija Hospital (Contact No. 9436807346/7005125158) there are 51 vacant general beds and 39 ICU/HDU beds; in Raj Medicity (Contact No.7005105552/9366496411) there are 77 vacant general beds and 23 ICU/HDU beds, in RIMS (Contact No. 7640862396) there are 196 vacant general beds and 23 ICU/HDU beds and in JNIMS (Contact No. 8131855346) there are 34 general beds and 16 ICU/HDU beds.
