India's COVID-19 tally on Saturday climbed to over 84.62 lakh after 50,356 cases were registered, the Union Health Ministry said.
With the fresh number of coronavirus infections, the total tally climbed to 84,62,080, including 5,16,632 active cases, 78,19,886 recoveries and 1,25,562 deaths, the Health Ministry said.
As many as 53,920 COVID-19 patients were discharged while 577 patients succumbed to the infection in a span of a day, according to the Union Health Ministry's data. An increase in recovery rate can be observed as the numbers climb to 92.41 per cent.
Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh continue to be worst affected by the pandemic. Maharashtra registered 6,870 new coronavirus cases and 161 deaths in a span of 24 hours, pushing the overall tally to 17,10,314 while death toll climbed to 44,965.
In a span of 24 hours since Friday, 11,13,209 samples were tested and 11,65,42,304 total samples have been tested so far in the country.
