Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched a public movement and appealed all to unite in the fight against Coronavirus and reiterated the basic COVID norms to follow by all.

Appealing all to unite in the fight against Corona, Modi took to Twitter and stressed the key message of “wear a mask, wash hands, follow social distancing and practice do gaj ki doori”.

“We will succeed and win against the Covid-19,” the prime minister said in a tweet on Thursday.

The prime minister’s campaign against the COVID-19 pandemic is being launched with the aim to encourage People’s Participation.

The PMO stated in a release that under the campaign, a COVID-19 Pledge will be taken by all. A Concerted Action Plan will be implemented by the Central Government ministries and departments and state governments and Union territories with the following 10 highlights:

1. Region- specific targeted communication in high case-load districts.

2. Simple and easily understandable messages to reach every citizen

3. Dissemination throughout the country using all media platforms

4. Banners and posters at public places; involving frontline workers and targeting beneficiaries of government schemes

5. Hoardings/ wall paintings/ electronic display boards in government premises

6. Involvement of Local and National influencers to drive home the message

7. Running mobile vans for regular awareness generation

8. Audio messages; pamphlets/ brochures on awareness

9. Seeking support of Local Cable Operators for running COVID messages

10. Coordinated media campaign across platforms for effective outreach and impact

Meanwhile, the total COVID-19 confirmed tally in India breached the 68-lakh mark at 68,35,655 cases, while the death toll rose to 1,05,569 cases on Thursday, according to the latest updates by the Union Health Ministry. Manipur's death toll rose to 83 while the confirmed tally reached 12,689 cases, the state health services stated in a release on Thursday.
