The Rongmei Naga Youths Organisation Manipur has appealed to the state government to look into shortage of security personnel, medical staff, manpower and sanitisation of quarantine centres at Noney, Nungba, Khoupum and Raengpang village.
A release issued by general secretary of the organisation, Dijinlung Gangmei stated that the organisation along with Rongmei Naga Students Organisation, Manipur and Rongmei Naga Council Manipur visited the said quarantine centres with the advice of the chief minister of the state and distributed pamphlets of COVID-19 guidelines written in Rongmei dialect.
The organisations also interacted with the sub divisional officer of Nungba and medical officer of Khoupum, officer incharge of Khoupum police station and conducted thorough assessment of quarantine centres, said the release.
The Rongmei civil bodies have been working as volunteers for the past lockdown period, working jointly with the district administration of Tamenglong and Noney districts to contain COVID-19, it said.
The released further praised the state government for bringing back stranded Manipuri’s outside that state and setting up various quarantine centres for the returnees.
