In view of the surge in infection rate of the Delta Variant of COVID-19, the Manipur government had imposed 10-day total curfew in order to break the chain of infection. However, during the 10 days, a total of 1,021 persons were tested COVID-19 positive and two deaths reported in Churachandpur district.
The curfew imposed under the order of the state government from July 18 reached its final day on Tuesday with no untoward incidents during the period. And with exceptions granted for various departments and essential activities, the public did not endure severe inconveniences during the 10 days. Churachandpur police was also able to manage the curfew effectively without any untoward incidents in the district.
According to reports from IDPS Churachandpur, in the last 10 days, a total of 1,021 individuals were tested COVID-19 positive including 512 males and 509 females in the district. In the last 24 hours, 371 people tested positive for the virus while two males succumbed to the COVID-19 infection.
Meanwhile, Churachandpur CMO stated that there is a shortage of nurses particularly at the CCC located at Churachandpur Government College with only six nurses attending the 120 patients at the centre. The CCC will soon house 170 patients as the district hospital has no more space left for new patients with the existing 54 beds including the six beds at the ICU already occupied.
Churachandpur district has been performing well in the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic with a high vaccination count of 5,268 people till July 25 during the 10-day total curfew.
