Churachandpur district administration, CVOs hold meeting on current COVID-19 crisis

The meeting resolved to work together to check the second wave of COVID-19 in the district.

The district administration and CVOs of Churachandpur had a deliberation on the current COVID-19 second wave situation at DTC hall, Tuibong on Wednesday.

The programme was led by additional DC Thangboi Gangte along with CMO, Dr Vumchinpau Tonsing, additional SP Lawrence Munluo and other officials from the District Disaster Management Committee.

The meeting resolved to work together to check the second wave of COVID-19 in the district. The CMO said that the only way to fight the second wave is through vaccination. He further appealed to the public to take the vaccine saying that the vaccine may not be 100 per cent protective but will at least boost the immunity and the only option left to stay safer.

In a press conference, president of Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) Churachandpur, NJ Hauneu Baite said that the students’ organisation has resolved to support the shutdown of all schools from Classes VIII and below. He appealed to the people not to have the complacency of the government’s decision as the pandemic is becoming dangerous for the entire society.

Meanwhile, Churachandpur recorded 11 new positive cases of COVID-19 (seven males and four females) making a total current active cases of 40 till the last report was received. No fatality was reported till the filing of this report.
