As a part of the Jan Andolan Drive, Assam Rifles toether with Kakching Police conducted a COVID awareness drive in and around villages of Kakching on Wednesday with the aim to create awareness among the population to prevent the spread of COVID-19 amid the ongoing lockdown relaxation.
The campaign witnessed enthusiastic participation by Kakching police officials, Assam Rifles personnel and medical staff, said a release issued by the Assam Rifles.
The release also stated that the general public exhibited great interest and zeal with respect to the outreach programme and the public were interested in getting to know the 'HOWs' and 'WHYs' of COVID- 19 pandemic.
Demonstration on personal hygiene was also conducted during the campaign and the public were made aware of the symptoms of the virus and the need for immediate help and isolation, it added.
Masks, pamphlets and hand sanitizers were also provided as part of the drive.
The campaign covered areas of Wapokpi village at Sugnu, Shalluk, Wabagai and Waikhong village and the villagers were sensitised about social distancing, use of masks and maintaining cleanliness to prevent the spread of COVID infections, the release further said.
