Arunachal Pradesh receives 32,000 doses of COVID vaccine

Chief Minister Pema Khandu said the state health department is all set for the world’s largest vaccination drive.

Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday received 32,000 doses of COVID vaccine as India gears up for the massive countrywide COVID-19 vaccination drive.

Taking to Twitter, Chief Minister Pema Khandu said that 32,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines are being dispatched to designated vaccine stores across the state.

While thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the chief minister said that the state health department is all set for the world’s largest vaccination drive, which is scheduled to begin from January 16.

"32000 doses of COVID vaccine received today morning are being dispatched to designated vaccine stores across Arunachal Pradesh. State health department is fully geared for the world’s largest vaccination drive to begin from 16th January. Thank you Honble PM Shri @narendramodi ji," Khandu tweeted.

On Wednesday, Manipur received its first consignment of COVID-19 vaccine Covishield, totalling 54,000 doses. Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that  8,476 health workers of the state will be vaccinated on January 16.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the nationwide vaccination drive on January 16 via video conferencing. 

India on January 3 approved two COVID-19 vaccines - Covishield and Covaxin - for restricted emergency use. Covishield is manufactured by Serum Institute of India in a tieup with ASraZeneca, while Covaxin is indigenously developed by Bharat Biotech in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
