Manipur Police continued crackdown on violators of guidelines and restrictions issued by the state government and the State Disaster Management Authority in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic.
A release by IGP and nodal officer of COVID-19 for Manipur Police said that during the drive on Friday, 277 persons were detained for not following strict SOPs of COVID-19 in the state. They were later released after warning. A total sum of Rs 42,600 was collected from the violators as fine as per law.
The police department warned that those who violate the guidelines and restrictions shall be dealt with strong legal action under the National Disaster Management Act, 2005 and other appropriate laws, it added.
