19 more die of COVID-19 in India, 5,108 new cases in 24 hours

The weekly positivity rate in the country was recorded at 1.70.15 per cent, the daily positivity rate was reported to be 1.44 per cent, according to the Union Health Ministry.

India's COVID-19 death toll surged to 5,28,216 on Wednesday with 19 more deaths in the last 24 hours while the country's  tally reached 4,45,10,057 with the addition of 5,108 new cases, according to the latest update by the Union Health Ministry.

As per the update, India has 45,749 active COVID-19 cases, constituting 0.1 per cent of the country's total positive cases.

India also recorded 5,675 new COVID-19 recoveries in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 4,39,36,092 and the recovery rate is 98.71 per cent, as of Wednesday.

As many as 89,02,99,090 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in India, including 3,55,231 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, as per the Health Ministry.

While the weekly positivity rate in the country was recorded at 1.70.15 per cent, the daily positivity rate was reported to be 1.44 per cent, the ministry added.

Meanwhile, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has reached 2,15,67,06,574, including 18,70,34,088 precaution doses.
