10 more victims push COVID-19 death toll to 1,674 in Manipur

Manipur on Wednesday recorded 606 new COVID-19 positive cases and 10 deaths due to the illness

Manipur on Wednesday recorded 606 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,06,030 while the death toll mounted to 1,674 with 10 more fatalities, according to the latest update by the state health department. 

Of the 10 COVID-19 fatalities recorded on Wednesday, three deaths were reported each from Imphal West, Imphal East and Bishnupur and one fatality from Churachandpur, according to a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room. 

The release stated that of the 10 deaths, eight persons had co-morbidities and only two of them were vaccinated with the first dose and another one with second dose. 

Imphal West continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 267 cases.

Imphal East reported a drop to 89 new COVID-19 positive cases, while 74 new cases are from Bishnupur, 46 from Churachandpur, 24 from Kakching, 29 from Thoubal, 20 each from Chandel and Ukhrul, nine from Pherzawal, seven from Kangpokpi, six from Tengnoupal, five each from Tamenglong and Senapati, four from Jiribam and one from Noney. 

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.

The state also recorded 723 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 97,499. The recovery rate reached 91.95 per cent, the release added. Manipur now has 6,857 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Oxygen cylinders in Manipur health facilities

Meanwhile, a total of 1,873 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and  412 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered vaccine had reached 14,14,880 (first dose: 11,57,377 and second dose: 2,57,503).

Vacant Beds in Nine Hospitals

According to the release, there are 156 vacant general beds and 69 ICU/HDU beds of COVID-19 in nine hospitals of Manipur.

In ILAND Hospital (Contact No. 9540404955/ 7085206820) there are 12 vacant general beds; in MSF, Little flower (Contact No. 9311222947) there are four vacant general beds and six ICU/HDU beds; in CMC, Koirengei (Contact No. 9612636004/9612905628) there are 30 vacant general beds and six ICU/HDU beds;  in Iboyaima Hospital, Singjamei (Contact No.7005436870/ 9612022125) there are 18 vacant general beds and two ICU/HDU beds.

In Jivan Hospital, Kakching (Contact No. 9366034272/ 7085348366) there are 13 vacant general beds and five ICU/HDU beds; in Shija Hospital (Contact No. 7005097688/7005125158) there are five vacant general beds and 13 ICU/HDU beds; in Raj Medicity (Contact No.7005105552/9366496411) there are 40 vaccnt general beds and 15 ICU/HDU beds, in RIMS (Contact No. 7640862396) there are 31 vacant general beds and 13 ICU/HDU beds and in JNIMS (Contact No. 8131855346) there are three general beds and nine ICU/HDU, it mentioned.

Vacant Beds in COVID Care Centres

According to a release, of the total 3,547 beds available in all the district Covid Care Centres of Manipur, the total number of vacant beds as on Wednesday are 2,221.

The vacant beds in Imphal East (Bal Bhawan, NSU, Standard College, AYUSH Hospital) are 189, 672 in Imphal West (LKK, RD Wing, MU Hostels, NIT), 247 in Thoubal, 57 in Bishnupur, 47 in Kakching, 112 in Churachandpur, 42 in Pherzawal, 200 in Senapati, 11in Tengnoupal, 53 in Jiribam, 30 in Noney, 55 in Kangpokpi, 227 in Tamenglong, 46 Chandel, 55 in Ukhrul and 178 in Kamjong, the release added.
