Encourage entrepreneurs to solve unemployment problems: Minister Th Biswajit

As we are on the international border we should take the opportunity of Act East Policy, the Manipur Textile, Commerce and Industries minister said.

Manipur Textile, Commerce and Industries Minister Thongam Biswajit has encouraged and called for all to solve unemployment problems in the state by playing a significant role for a self-reliant state.

He made the statement on the inaugural function of two days capacity building training programme on “Packaging of foods and handicraft products of Manipur” at Food Processing Training hall, District Industries Centre, Porompat, Imphal East, on Wednesday.

Biswajit said that packaging is a very important part of a product to attract buyers. It is the aesthetic value of the product, which we are going to sell at the market, he said, adding that the packaging should be eco-friendly, innovative and affordable. Once the railway reaches Imphal transport, issues will be minimised and transportation charges will be cut off. As we are on the international border we should take the opportunity of Act East Policy, he said.

He informed that a mega food park is coming up in the state and the government is trying to set up a cold storage facility in every district. The Industrial Estate is functioning very smoothly in the state by providing a work shed to the entrepreneurs, Minister Biswasjit said.

The minister also urged to follow the principle of simplicity stating that it is the best policy and encouraged the trainer to use the knowledge they have gained from the training and become a master trainer.

He also highlighted the importance of MEETAC in preserving the dying arts and crafts of the state and urged the artisans to collaborate with MEETAC.

The training was conducted by Indian Institute of packaging, Kolkata Centre and organised by Department of Textiles, Commerce and Industry and it was supported by Ministry of Commerce and Industry, government of India.

The inaugural session was attended by director of trade commerce and industries, Yumnam Robita; deputy director Bidhan Das of Indian Institute of Packaging, Kolkata Centre; secretary Micheal Achom of Department of Textiles, Commerce and Industry, government of Manipur.
