A book titled ‘Shri Shri Govindajida Katiliba Ras Makhan Ahum gi Eshei Sing’ by Phanjoubam Iboton Singh was released at Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA) on Thursday.
On the occasion, JNMDA director P Bilash said books and written documents are vital in preserving the ancient knowledge and wisdom.
He emphasised the need for people to preserve cultural and historical documents passed down by forefathers.
Bilash expressed gratitude to experts and writers who dedicated their lives to preserve the culture and tradition of Manipur. It is because of them that the state’s culture has been able to garner global attention, he added.
Meanwhile, writer Phanjoubam Iboton highlighted that the book is a compilation of songs from Basanta Raas, Kunja Raas and Macha Raas.
“The three Raas are performed at the Shri Shri Govindaji temple every year,” he said.
