A military perspective book, The Anglo-Kuki War 1917-19, victory in defeat authored by Colonel Vijay Chenji was released at Kuki Inpi Complex, Tuibong, Churachandpur district on Saturday.
“The book is about one of the glorious chapters in the history of Northeast India, in which an unknown tribe challenged the might of the British Army and fought a war that lasted for years. Although the Kukis lost the war, they fought gallantly to uphold their pride and dignity. It was truly a victory in defeat in the real sense and therefore, it is victory in defeat,” said the author of the book, Vijay Chenji.
According to his perspective, Anglo-Kuki War 1917-19 is one the toughest wars fought by the British after the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857.
The author said the book is written in simple language so that any layman can read and understand, though it has some technical terms from a military perspective.
